On the morning of August 30, 2022, Jim passed away at his home in Ocoee, FL after his battle with cancer. Jim was 60 years old.
James "Jim" H. McGarry Jr. was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on May 5, 1962. He was the second child, and the first son, of Virginia Dorothy Lee McGarry and James McGarry Sr.
Growing up Jim had, what most would agree to be, a difficult childhood. This would go on to shape his life as an adult and would inspire him to be the best he could be.
In 1984, Jim moved to Florida and would soon call Orlando his home for the rest of his life. Liberated from most of the distractions that had held him back up north, Jim began a new, better life. In the early 90's, motivated to do better and provide for his family, Jim earned his plumbing license. He would go on to have a remarkable 30+ year career in the field. Jim took great pride in his work, which spoke for itself.
A bit of a wild child in his younger days, Jim enjoyed the freedom and lifestyle of the motorcycle culture. Throughout the years, he enjoyed attending Bike Week. It's there you would see the twinkle in Jim's eyes as he would relive his younger years and cut loose with his friends and family.
Jim loved to listen to music and converse. If you had something to talk about, he would be there to listen. If you wanted a good laugh, Jim would tell amusing stories from his younger years that would leave you in disbelief.
Jim's family was his sole focus. Wanting to provide and take care of them the best he could, often putting their needs ahead of his own. His wife, Tammy McGarry, was blessed to be with him for almost 40 years and took care of him until the end.
Everyone who knew Jim knew how special he was.
Jim will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Dorothy Lee, father-in-law Ken Gehrmann, and his brother-in-laws Keith Gehrmann and Santos Delvalle.
Survived by his loving wife Tammy McGarry, his sons Shane McGarry and Mitchell McGarry, his sisters Ruthie Delaney, Linda Krausse, Lori Hedrick, Heather Whitney, his brother Jason Whitney, his many loving nieces and nephews, and granddaughter Chelsea McGarry (aka "Little Princess").
A service will be held on 11am to 12 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at Gateway Church located in 701 Formosa Ave, Winter Park, FL 32789.
The McGarry family would like to thank all of the health care professionals at AdventHealth that assisted Jim during his battle with cancer and Modern Plumbing Industries, Inc. for their compassion and generosity during this difficult time.
