James "Jim" Ambrose Lincoln Jr., 88 of Orlando, Florida passed away at home surrounded by his family on October 29, 2018 after a long, hard battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Jim was born January 13, 1930 in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania to James Ambrose Lincoln Sr. and Mary Graff. Growing up in Depression Era America was difficult and lead him to leave school earlier and join the military right after WWII. He was initially was part of the United States Army Air Forces which later became the US Air Force. Jim spent over 20 years in the Air Force retiring from active service in 1968. During his time in the Air Force, Jim served in the Korean War as a member of the Crash Rescue Boat Squadron where he and his crew responded to the rescue and recovery of airmen from downed aircraft. After the Crash Rescue Boat Squadron was decommissioned, Jim was stationed at bases in Bermuda, Florida, Japan, Colorado, and South Dakota where he worked in both carpentry and photography units as an instructor.
Fun fact: Jim was left-handed and believed that left-handed people were naturally smarter and more capable than everyone else. His whole family is right-handed.
Jim carried his carpentry talent and love for working with his hands into his civilian life where he built most of the home where he raised his family. Jim passed along his work ethic and mechanical knowledge to his sons who are thankful for the skill and knowledge they received from their father. Jim also had a passion for nature and loved the family farm in Delaware. In addition to growing crops like peppers, Jim tried his hand at worm farming, beekeeping, and tilapia farming.
Fun fact: Whenever Jim had a doctor's visit, nurse visit or PT/OT visit, he had to tell a joke before the person left. His favorite joke is: A man dies and goes to Heaven. When he got to Heaven, he sat before God to be judged. God sneezed.... and the man didn't know what to say.
Jim missed the camaraderie that he experience in the Air Force, so he joined the Freemasons. He enjoyed the time he spent with the Masons and made many friends there. Jim eventually progressed to the 32nd degree.
Fun fact: Jim, while only clothed in his underwear, once chased a raccoon across the roof of the garage in the middle of the night while brandishing a golf club...the raccoon got away. Ironically, it was a full moon that night.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years Janet S. Lincoln; brother Norman Lincoln; sisters Jean Lincoln Larsen and Leona Lincoln Dougherty; 3 sons: James Ambrose Lincoln III (Amy Monroe), Steven Lincoln (Puxiao Cen), and George Lincoln (Marlena Wilson); 2 daughters: Micki (Brad) Sharp and Honey (Jim) Larson; 10 grandchildren: (Josh Lincoln, Sean Lincoln, Megan Schryer, Michael McGarrigle, Zach Kaptain Sharp, Jesse Sharp, Noah Sharp, Kelly Lincoln, Jessica Lincoln, and Steven Cen), several great grandchildren and numerous other family and friends.
