Obituary

James Johnson,"Jimmy" passed away peacefully under the care of Suncoast Hospice at Woodside on Saturday, July 15, 2017. He grew up in Fayetteville, NC, and then relocated to Florida to attend USF, where he was a member of the first graduating class. After graduation he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the Air Force, he went to work for Kmart Co. where his management position brought him to Seminole, FL. For more than 30 years, Jimmy made many contributions to growing our community. From positions of leadership in Rotary Club, to the Chamber, to being named Mr. Seminole in 1985, to his most beloved role as mayor from 2006-2012. Jimmy will long be remembered for his vision for Seminole and its people. Jimmy's big smile and even bigger heart allowed him to be blessed with many wonderful friendships over the years. He will be greatly missed. Jimmy was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Heather Nicole Johnson. He is survived by his oldest daughter, Paige Michael, grandson, Chase; his sisters, Shelia, Betty and Ray, along with many nieces and nephews. A service will be held at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks on Friday, July 21, 2017. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 A.M. With the Memorial service beginning at 11:00. Memorial donations may be made in Jimmy's name to One Breath at a Time, www.OBAAT.org .
