Obituary

Jalna Glenn Parcell O'Neil was born in Akron Ohio and moved to Central Florida at the tender age of seven. She attended several schools in the area, including Winter Park High School. During this time she had the pleasure of meeting her future husband on a blind date. While their paths took a slight detour, they ended up going to college at Florida State University. Here Jalna studied music and education. At some point she returned to Orlando and played the viola in the Central Florida Orchestra. Her first teaching job was at Killarney Elementary while starting a new family. Jalna also attended Rollins College for her Masters in Psychology. She reached many goals in her life: teacher of the year, Principal K-8th grade, President of Maitland Women's Club, On the board of Alpha Omicron Pi/Winter Park Reunion committee, taught at Valencia Community College and was even on some radio talk shows involving children learning habits.

Jalna and her husband Richard (Dick) were known for their caring hearts and hospitality. Everyone was welcome. Many found her to be an excellent problem solver, advice giver and all-around great listener. If you got lucky enough to hear her contagious laugh, this meant it was a good time. Most knew of her fine incredible intellect and insight. Jalna had many talents as well, from baking, cooking, crafts, kitting, quilting and music. One of the most wonderful abilities she possessed was her positive attitude and never ending drive.

Jalna O'Neil is preceded by her daughter Maureen O'Neil DiGiorgio, son Richard Patrick O'Neil (deceased) and her grandson Vincent Patrick DiGiorgio. Along with her Sister, Kathleen Parcell Switzer, Arden Parcell Goettling (deceased), nieces, Kim Switzer Bach, Kelly Switzer Timmons,
Nedra Goettling, Shelley O'Neill and nephews, Van Goettling, Kurt Goettling. She has many grand nieces and nephews known to her, as well as great grand nieces and nephews.

Jalna loved life and will be sorely missed.
