Obituary

Jacqueline "Jackie" Shelton daughter of Paul Smith Hylton of North Carolina decease and Geneva Geraldine Donaldson Hylton of Tampa, also deceased. Jackie was married to Kenneth (Buddy) Shelton July 9, 1954. Buddy's grandparents were pioneers of Pinellas Park (the McMullens and Harris's). Buddy owned and operated 2 Abatoires and also owned and managed Shelton Masonry. Then in the mid 70's Buddy and Jackie joined up with a carnival (Gambill's Amusements) a Sunday school Show based in Ohio. They traveled though West Virginia, Ohio and Pennsylvania 6 month of the year. Jackie was know to have commented "I have never worked so hard, had so much fun, met so many nice people or made so much money in my life." They retired from the carnival in the early 80's and Buddy began constructing custom built homes, but he suffered a severe heart attack in 1985, however Our Lord left him with his family until 1992, 7 years, which was a miracle.
Buddy was born in St. Petersburg, Jackie was born in Tampa but raised in St. Petersburg. They had three children, Larry Wayne Shelton, Keith Lamar Shelton and Terri Lynn Whaley. All three of the children traveled on the carnival with Buddy and Jackie. They also leave behind 8 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Buddy has been sorely missed for many years but know Jackie has gone to meet him.
William Beasly Harris (Buddy's grandfather) was County Commissioner for years and was so popular that he had a boy child given his full name of William easly Harris Hooks, he loved people and was always helping everyone.
Jackie was a member of Park Place Wesleyan Church for many years and most recently attended Cross Bridge Church. She worked at the Olive Garden for about 10 years. She loved working at Olive Garden and referred to the employees as her second family and the Olive Garden as her second home.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, Decmeber 21 from 12 PM until time of service at 2 PM. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery.
