Obituary

DeLong, Jacqueline A., 96, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away March 7, 2024, under the care of hospice. Born to Olin D. and Lillian M. Feister, in Battle Creek, MI, she later relocated to Norfolk, VA where she and her husband, Jack DeLong, raised four children and owned several businesses. Jackie, or Sweetie as she was most affectionately known by her family and friends, then relocated to St. Petersburg Beach where she and her mother owned and operated a number of upscale gift and fashion boutiques for many years under the name of Lillian and Jacqueline, Inc. After retiring from her businesses, what she enjoyed most was spending more time with her family. Sweetie had a kind and generous heart, an infectious laugh, a robust sense of humor and a dynamic personality that lit up any room she walked into. Although she faced a number of challenges in life, her resiliency and fighting spirit allowed her to persevere and live a long, fruitful life. Her family and friends loved her dearly and will miss her terribly.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Jack Delong, son Jack "Jay" Delong, Jr., sister Joyce Beronja, brother Robert Feister and his wife Martha, and son-in-law James C. Frederick, Sr. She is survived by her three daughters Jill Frederick, Jerri Bourgholtzer, and Jan DeLong; grandchildren Richard Borte and wife Jadah, Jamie Frederick and husband Jeffrey Murphy, Zane Frederick, Angela Miley and husband Danny, and Jarred Bourgholtzer and wife Rachel; great-grandchildren Chelsey, Benjamin and Olivia Borte, and Blake and Jack Miley; nieces Dawn Anderson and husband Brian, and Michelle Wilkins; and great and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at DeGusipe Funeral Home with burial at Sylvan Abbey Cemetery. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, tribute donations in Jackie's name be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
