Jackie Sheldon passed away peacefully on March 24, 2016, surrounded by her family. Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Collins Rambo, her mother, Edna Earl Rambo, and her brother, Richard "Red" Rambo.
Jackie was born in Jacksonville, FL on November 24, 1937. She married George E. Sheldon Jr., Capt. USN Retired, on June 23, 1956. Jackie and George were married 59 years. She is survived by her husband, her brother William (Glenda) Rambo, and her four children; Georgianne Spencer, Suzanne (Drew) Marshall, George (Linda) Sheldon III and Maryanne (Danny) Glaese. Jackie is also survived by her seven grandchildren; Lisa (Matt) Fowler, Brittany Sheldon, Vicki (Matt) Sumner, Jake Spencer, Courtney Sheldon, Stewart Marshall and Chip Sheldon and three great grandchildren; Shane Sumner, Tanner Fowler and Simon Sumner.
Jackie graduated from Alfred I duPont High School, Jacksonville, FL in 1955. She volunteered in many ways including hospital Candy-Striper, CCD school teacher at St Mary Magdalen Catholic Church, Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts. She worked as the executive assistant to the President at Auburn University at Montgomery. She went back to school after raising her children and graduated from the University of Central Florida in 1984 with a bachelor of arts in Allied Legal Services. She retired from the law firm of Meyers and Mooney in 2011. Afterward she worked part-time for the Florida Cattlemen's Association.
Jackie loved to play bingo and to shop for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and George were avid garden railroad enthusiasts and were long-time members of the Florida Garden Railway Society. Jackie and George enjoyed traveling with their family and especially traveling by rail. She was the ultimate party planner and her friends loved to visit to enjoy her southern hospitality, sense of humor and cooking.
A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday April 2, 2016 at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL with reception to follow at the church.
