Obituary

Hugh Bringenberg, 91 of Clearwater, FL passed away on Friday, April 27 at the Bay Pines Veteran's Hospital in St. Petersburg, FL.

He was born in Hazleton, PA to the late John and Rose Bringenberg, graduated from St. Gabriel's High School and was a WW II U.S. Army veteran who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and later guarded General Eisenhower in post-war Germany.

Hugh was a homebuilder, taking over his father's business in Hazleton. He moved to Toms River, NJ in 1964, doing home improvements and later retiring.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Hazleton and also served as a quartermaster with the Ocean County (NJ) String Band.

Hugh was preceded in death by his spouses June Bringenberg and Virginia Schaffer, daughter, Barbara Liby, brother, Gerald Bringenberg and sisters, Lucille Batchelor and Muriel Sacco.

He is survived by daughters Bonnie Conley and Kathleen Spearance (St. Petersburg, FL), and sons, Kenneth (Reynoldsburg, OH) and John (Denver, CO).

He is also survived by a brother Bernard Bringenberg (Munroe Falls, OH), sisters Sr. Ellen Mary, (Bayside, New York), Mildred Howard (St. Petersburg, FL) and Juleann Petrole (Tresckow, PA), as well as 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild.

A funeral Mass is planned at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church at 1600 54th Ave. S. in St. Petersburg on Friday May 11 at 11:00 AM. An interment ceremony will be held at the Bay Pines National Cemetery on Thursday, May 10, at 10:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Unquiet Professional ( www.theunquietprofessional.org ), a non-profit providing programs for Gold Star veteran families and managed by Hugh's granddaughter, or to Disabled American Veterans ( www.dav.org ).
