Obituary

Homer H. Prentice, 98 of St. Petersburg passed away Monday, October 9, 2017. Homer acquired his strong work ethic growing up on a farm in lower Michigan, learning things on his own. During WWII, he left his work at a machine shop and enlisted in the Army, where he served for four years Stateside and then deployed for 18 months in the European Theater. He returned home in late 1945 to join his wife he left behind and to his 18-month-old daughter who was born while he was overseas. He went on to successful careers in carpentry and sales, while keeping busy at hone with building, renovations, hunting and fishing. Homer was a member of the Grass Lake, MI Methodist church, and later, churches in St. Petersburg, FL. Homer leaves behind an extended loving family and an angelic friend, Nancy Carroll. He survived his loving wife of more than 60 years, Hilda, after three years of being her caregiver. Homer is survived by three daughters and their families: Diane (John) Sattler of Asheville, NC and Vero Beach, FL, Pamela (Daniel Marguiles) Prentice of Sunnyvale, CA, and Elaine Prentice of Dane, WI. Grandchildren are Jeff (Egla) Sattler of Albuquerque, NM, Chris (Kayla) Campbell of WI, Katy (Chad) Gulseth of Dane, WI and three great-grandchildren. Donations to Hospice or other charities are preferred.
