Henry "Hank" Joseph Jarvis, 82 of Orlando, Florida passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at Florida Hospital - Altamonte in Altamonte Springs, Florida. He was born on July 6, 1934 in Buffalo, New York.
Mr. Jarvis is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Jarvis, son, Richard J. Jarvis, daughter, Jean M. Everett, 3 grandchildren (Sarah, Ashley and Amanda) and 2 great granddaughters (Elizabeth and Brooke).
Hank was a very talented man and worked as an engineer for Bausch & Lomb, Thor Power & tools and Xerox while living in New York. He served in the United States Navy from 1953 – 1961 and was very active in the Knights of Columbus, Lions Club, and Elks. He enjoyed working with kids and was an Eagle and Boy Scout Master for many years.
After moving to Chicago, Illinois he graduated from Roosevelt University with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He then worked for Maercker School where he met his wife of 40 years, Barbara. They were friends for 2 years before deciding to get married. They lived in Bolingbrook, Illinois for 5 years before moving to Orlando, Florida in December 1980. When they moved to Orlando Hank worked as a salesman for Beckly-Cardy Company selling school and office equipment and supplies until he retired in 1997. After retirement he formed his own company, Jensen & Jarvis, selling school furniture and supplies to preschools. While being self-employed he decided to take horticultural classes through the Orange County Extension Office to become a Master Gardner. He volunteered as a Master Gardener for 15 years.
Hank's hobbies, before Parkinson's, included gardening, bowling, and traveling with his wife. Hank was a very sociable man and enjoyed entertaining with friends at the Moose and Eagles and volunteered for some of their functions. He also loved his two dachshunds, Fritzle and Snickers who were great companions for him while Barbara was still working.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mr. Henry Jarvis to the Parkinson's Association of Central Florida.
