Helen Garner Smith of Sanford, FL. passed away on Monday, September 5, 2016 in Tallahassee. She was born in Lilburn, Georgia on May 24, 1919. She graduated from Seminole High School in 1937. She met and married Ed Smith on January 25, 1947 and remained married for 47 years until Ed passed away in April 1994. She taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church of Sanford for over 50 years and her life always revolved around church activities. She worked as a beautician for 55 years but her true devotion was taking care of her husband and her children. She is pre-deceased by her husband Ed, her oldest son Edward Matthew Smith, Jr., and her daughter Nancy Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her son Rick Smith of Tallahassee and his wife Dawn, their three sons, Zachary Matthew Smith of Washington D.C., Benjamin Michael Smith and his wife Logan of St. Petersburg, Florida and Jacob Edward Smith of Tallahassee and his wife Allison and daughter Autumn Dawn. She is also survived by her son Jim Smith of Lake Mary and his wife Emily, his daughter Camille Russell of Sanford and her husband Jeff and their daughter Kylee, his son Cameron Smith also of Sanford and his wife Kaydee, their son Myles.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday September 10th at 11:00 a.m. at the Central Baptist Church of Sanford.
