Helen Gail (Hodges) Osment, 89, of Winter Park, FL, passed away on
Thursday, March 20, 2025, at Advent Health Hospital, Winter Park, FL.
Helen is survived by her husband, James Parker Osment, daughter, Mary E.
Peters (Clayton) of Winter Park, FL, sons; James P. Osment, Jr. (Jolie)
Auburndale, FL, Thomas E. Osment (Kim), Longwood, FL, and J. David
Osment (Jim), Orlando, FL, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-
grandchildren.
Helen was born on September 30, 1935, the daughter of Arthur Judson and
Mary Elizabeth (Bennett) Hodges. She attended West End High School in
Birmingham, AL. She married James Parker Osment on February 16, 1957,
in Birmingham, AL. After living a short time in Dallas, TX, she and James
moved to Orlando, FL. She was a stay-at-home mom, but after her children
were grown, she worked as a PBX Operator for Lucerne Hospital, and as a
Medical Transcriptionist for Dr. Gary Kalser. She handled the cradle roll for
Delaney Street Baptist Church and was the President of the P.T.A for her
children's school.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Mary, her sister, Mary
Elizabeth Hodges, her brother, Rev. Judson Hodges (Betty) and her sister
Margaret Hodges.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, April 10, at First
Baptist Winter Park, 1021 N. New York Ave., Winter Park, Dr.Walter
Jackson and Dr. Doug Hankins, officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of the DeGusipe Funeral Home and
Crematory, 9001 N. Orlando Ave. Maitland, FL, 32751. Interment is
private.
Memorials may be given to First Baptist Winter Park. The family of Helen
wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the precious caregivers who attended
to her these past few years, the ministers, many visitors and friends who
checked on her, and to the doctors/nurses who saw to her every need.
