Helen Adeline Moehring (Johnson) died peacefully on September 20 at Arden Courts of Winter
Springs surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara, son Richard
(Carol Anne), grandchildren Jenna and Alex, brother Eugene and many neices and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,Vernon, parents, Pearl and Albin Johnson, sisters
Leona, Dorothy and Margaret.
She was born on October 18, 1921 in Hayti, South Dakota. She lived on a farm outside of Hayti
with her parents and siblings until graduating from high school. After high school, she moved to
Watertown, SD and worked for the local telephone company for several years. She met and
married her husband, Vernon Moehring, in Watertown and it was at that time that her life took a
dramatic change going from small town farm girl to big city entrepreneur and later world traveler
as a military wife
Helen and Vern moved to Minneapolis where they owned and operated a small restaurant
together. Later, Vern was recalled to the Army to serve in Korea and that began his career as a
military officer and her career as an Army wife. For the next 30 years Helen created a loving
home for her family in fifteen different locations statewide and internationally. She truly was
able to bloom wherever she was planted. In 1970, she moved to Peachtree City, Georgia
where she enjoyed retirement with her husband, took up golf and enjoyed many friends. In 2009
Helen and her husband moved to Florida to be closer to family
Helen was known by her family and friends for her loving and generous spirit and for the joy she
found in life and nature.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude for the loving care she received from the
staff at Arden Court of Winter Springs for the past two years
She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family
requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association ( www.Alzheimer.org
