Helen Kniley, age 79, of Longwood, Florida, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, December 14, 2021.
Helen was born on March 25, 1942, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. She relocated to Vero Beach, Florida, as a young woman where she met Hurley Rountree, married and had two children, Cathy and Chris. Helen worked as a Nurses' Aide for many years at the Vero Beach Memorial Hospital and loved helping others in her job.
Helen enjoyed swimming, going to the beach, crafts and playing Bingo. Some of her favorite foods were spaghetti and shrimp, and she loved sweets such as milkshakes, cookies, cakes, chocolate-covered strawberries and pies. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, as well as a jokester who liked to kid around and play jokes on people.
Helen is preceded in death by her ex-husband Hurley Ray Rountree, Jr., son Christopher Hurley Rountree, and granddaughter Elizabeth Jane Rountree, who shared a birthday with her on March 25.
She is survived by her daughter Cathleen "Cathy" Rountree Elliott (William Kent "Bill" of FL), daughter-in-law Erica Shepard Rountree (GA), and granddaughter Julie "Cate" Rountree (GA).
In lieu of flowers, contributions in honor of Helen's memory may be made to your favorite Senior Association (Senior Center, Assisted Living or Nursing Home facility). Opis Island Lake Center in Longwood, where she resided for the last 3 years, will accept blankets, clothing, adult coloring books, and crossword puzzle books.
