Obituary

Helen Good began her new heavenly life on November 4th, 2024, after 93 years of being a blessing to all who had the good fortune of knowing her. She died peacefully in Debary, Florida with Lewis Good, her husband of 72 years, and several of her children by her side. A native of Pennsylvania, Helen was the daughter of the late Henry and Margret Shenk.

While rearing six children and supporting her husband in business as well as many ministerial responsibilities, Helen continued to feed her remarkable passion to observe and learn. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling to many areas of the world, sampling food and documenting her observations, some of which later became the subjects of her many paintings. Helen was an avid gardener and floral arranger. For many years she took joy in providing weekly flower arrangements for the front of the church they attended. Certainly her love of the Creator, her wonder of the creation, along with interests in cuisine, history, architecture, art, gardening, music, health, investing, and even things mechanical can be observed in part, in each of her six very different offspring.

Later in life Helen went back to school and secured a BA in fine arts from the University of Maryland. She was truly an amazing person and demonstrated a life well lived.

Helen is survived by her husband, Lewis Good of Debary Florida, brothers Norman Shenk and Harold Shenk (Mary Grace), children Karen Chasez (Roy), Frederick Good (Jane), C. Bernie Good (Kathleen), Lauren Good (Jennifer), Cheryl Munson (William), and Michelle Ferrando (Michael) as well as thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her twin brother, Warren Shenk, brother Henry Shenk, and one grandchild.

Interment will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a date to be announced later.
