Our Lord and Saviour brought His child, Hazel Elizabeth Davenport Bolling, Home to Glory early in the morning of September 29, 2022. She was 94 years old. She resided in Largo, Florida.
The date of her birth was May 1, 1928 in Monongahela, PA. She was the widow of John Henry Bolling of Youngstown, OH and the daughter of the late Herschel H. and Myrtle Philips Davenport.
She was strong in her faith of GOD and loved by all who met her. In her youth, she considered herself a "tomboy", keeping up with her brothers. GOD blessed her with a beautiful singing voice, which her older sister reminded many friends of the family. She and her younger sisters formed a singing group which led them to Motown, in Detroit, MI.
She was a graduate of Monongahela High School in PA. She later became a legal assistant for Mahoning County Legal Services in Youngstown, OH. She was also employed at the United Negro College Fund in Pittsburgh, PA. She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in St. Petersburg, FL.
She is survived by two daughters, Diane Bolling Lavender and Patrice Bolling Brantley both of Largo, FL and son John H. and wife Pam Gregory of Columbus, OH, sisters Emma (Janice) Jones of Linden, NJ, Norma (Tracey) Collins of Edison, NJ, Florence (Penney) Thoms of Dover, DE and Sylvia Davenport of Roselle, NJ, eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and a host of friends in JESUS‼
She was predeceased by six brothers, Kenneth H. Davenport, Charles R. Davenport, Issac P. Davenport, Joseph S. Davenport, Grayson H. Davenport, Clarence L. Davenport and one sister, Amelda L. Davenport.
An intimate service was held in October 2, 2022 at R. Lee Funeral Home in St. Petersburg, FL.
