Mr. Harvey W. "Bill" Pierce died peacefully with family by his side on June 25, 2023, he was 91 years old.
Bill is survived by his children Debbie A. Pierce of Greenbelt, Maryland, Harvey W. "Billy" Pierce Jr. of Indianhead, Maryland, Kelly L. Speakes and husband Joseph of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and David S. Pierce and wife Michelle of Orlando, Florida. His grandchildren Gregory Speakes of Myrtle Beach, SC, Stephanie Adams (Speakes) of Myrtle Beach, SC, Elana Pierce of Baltimore, MD, David Pierce Jr, of Orlando, FL, and Jackson Pierce of Orlando, FL. His great grandchildren, Callie, Maddie, Griffin and Sadie Speakes of Myrtle Beach, SC. His partner of 30 years June Skees. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Edith Lee of Sea Side Park, New Jersey, mother Thelma M. Pierce of Irvington, New Jersey, and his wife Dora B. Pierce of Watertown, New York.
Bill Pierce was born on October 13, 1931, in Irvington, New Jersey to Thelma and Ward Pierce. He was raised by his grandmother, Edith Lee, in Toms River, New Jersey where he shared fond childhood memories as a lifeguard and other adventures on the boardwalk. He graduated from Toms River High School in 1951. Bill enlisted in the United States Air Force upon graduation from High School rising to the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. He is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. In 1955 he met and married Dora B. Shepherd. They were happily married for 36 years. Following his career in the Air Force, Bill and Dora settled in Prince George's County, Maryland where he lived for more than 45 years. Bill began a new career in the Central Intelligence Agency serving for more than 35 years. He was a pillar in the local community, volunteering as a football and baseball coach at Silver Hill Boys and Girls Club, having a
positive impact on young lives through sports for more than 30 years. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, fishing and playing Texas Hold'em at the local Veterans of Foreign Wars. Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was loved by all and known for his humor, and big smile.
A graveside service is will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill Pierce's life. Flowers may be sent to Arlington National Cemetery when service information becomes available.
