Harry Nelson Stiff passed away at his residence in Orlando, FL on October 31, 2015. He was 78.

Harry was born on July 4, 1937 to the late Maude Stiff in Bedford, VA. He graduated from Susie G. Gibson High School in Bedford, Virginia and joined the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Mary Pullen. They had two sons, Harry and Keith. After 20 years in the Army, many tours overseas and across the United States, he retired and joined the City of Newport News, Virginia and the Newport News City Farm where he rose to the rank of Captain before retiring in 1999. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing with his buddies and visiting his sons and granddaughters. After Mary's passing in 2008, he moved to Florida to be close to his children. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Central Florida and enjoyed participating in their Legacy Adult programs.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pullen Stiff; son Harry Nelson Stiff, Jr.; mother Maude Johns Stiff; brother Landon Stiff; brother Joseph Stiff; sister Gaynelle Scott; and sister Gladys Neepaye.

Harry is survived by son Keith Stiff (Marcelle) and granddaughter Marissa of Orlando, FL; daughter-in-law Julynn Stiff and granddaughter, Kennedy of Orland Park, IL; sister June Jackson (Bobby) of Bedford, VA; brother William Stiff (Hessie) of PA; brother Elbert Stiff of NY; sister-in-law Evelyn Stiff of CO and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 14 at 1:00 p.m. at Bedford Funeral Home Chapel, 1039 Rock Castle Road, Bedford, VA 24523. Interment immediately following the service at Fairmount Cemetery. A reception will follow at Washington Street Baptist Church and all are welcome.
