Harriet Langenthal

Harriet S. Langenthal died Saturday, September 5, 2026, after a serious fall. Harriet was born on September 2, 1928, to Harry Glick and Miriam Fiske Glick in New York City. Harriet married Marvin R. Langenthal on February 14, 1953. Their son, Scott I. Langenthal, was born April 9, 1960. The Langenthal family moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1963 and built their dream home. Harriet lived in that home until her death.

Harriet began volunteering with Parc Center for Disabilities in 1975. And in 1982, she took a part-time job at Parc as a teacher’s assistant for the toddlers’ class. Harriet reflected on her time at Parc saying “It is always rewarding to give of oneself, but even more rewarding is what we get back from our children. As little as they are, in spite of physical, emotional, and mental disabilities, they try so hard. If these little ones can do it, we as adults can reach new horizons also just by trying. One never knows their full potential unless you keep trying.”

On September 2nd, Harriet celebrated her 98th birthday at one of her favorite restaurants. It was a time filled with laughter and memories. A kind stranger even bought her dinner to congratulate her on such a birthday milestone. That time together was a blessing.

Harriet is survived by her son, Scott Langenthal; daughter – in – law, Stacey Langenthal: beloved granddaughter, Marissa (Langenthal) Darling and Marissa’s husband, Dr. Richard Darling. She is also survived by dear nephews and niece - David Glick, Laurie Mulhall, Philip Glick and his wife, Karen. Harriet was predeceased by her husband Marvin Langenthal and her brother and sister – in – law Edward and Gladys Glick.

During the last six years, Harriet’s companion and caregiver has been Faith Richardson. Faith and her children, Makayla and Caleb treated Harriet like family. Harriet loved them as well. The family extends their sincere gratitude to Faith.

The Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, September 15th at 12:30pm at Menorah Gardens of Chapel Hill Memorial Park 12905 Wild Acres Road, Largo, FL 33540. Donations in Harriet’s name may be made to Parc Center for Disabilities (www.parc-fl.org), 3151 73rd Street North, St. Petersburg, FL 33710.
