Gregory Robert White, 68, of Longwood passed away on September 20th, 2016 at Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs.
Gregg was born in Pana, IL on October 30th, 1947 to Connie and Lois White. His childhood was spent listening to the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio, ice skating and swimming in the park across the street from his house, and in his father's pool hall, where he developed a love and skill for playing billiards. After four years of fun with what became lifelong friends at Illinois Wesleyan University, he graduated in 1969.
He met his incredible wife, Sandy, while working in Cape Girardeau, MO in 1976. They married in 1979 and moved to Marietta, GA, where they welcomed daughter Meghan in 1982 and son Phillip in 1985. After almost a decade of blessings in Marietta, a career opportunity brought them to Longwood, FL in 1987.
The 1990s and early 2000s were largely spent at the beach, or at a swim meet or water polo tournament. Gregg cherished the memories made when he and his brother, Phil, brought their families together for summer vacations out west.
In his golden years, Gregg could be found watching any Florida Gator sporting event, talking conservative politics, partaking in extended happy hour, and enjoying the company of his family and friends, especially his two-year-old grandson, Jackson.
Gregg fought a tough, five-year battle with cancer and will be greatly missed by many. We will remember the gregarious man, who never met a stranger, and loved to have fun.
Gregg, who has too many catchy nicknames to list, is survived by his wife Sandy of 37 years, daughter Meghan (Chad, Jackson), son Phil (Andrea) and brother Phil (Cindie).
We would like to thank our family and friends for their overwhelming love and support.
Should friends desire, contributions may be sent to the Ronald McDonald House of Central Florida.
