Obituary

Gloria Irene (Galasso) Ward was born in Staten Island, New York on November 17, 1939 to Joseph and Anna Galasso and passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on December 7, 2021 at 82 years old. Gloria had a wonderful life filled with love, family, friends, and adventure.

Gloria attended New Dorp High School in Staten Island. While at the beach with her friends she met Robert (Bob) Ward. They married in February 1959, and remained in love for 62 years. Together they had five well-loved children and that love will flow down through the generations.

While raising five children Gloria was very active in the school system and the community. She was the president of the PTA, president of the Indian Hills Homeowners Association, worked with Seminole County in the development and renovation of parks, and with the School Board for redistricting.

Gloria was a lifelong Republican and was active in campaigns from the local level to the presidential race. She once ran for Seminole County School Board.

While busy with five children from elementary school to high school ages, Gloria fit in college courses and graduated from Rollins College with a B.S. in Business in 1978. She worked for Allstate Insurance as an Adjuster, and Martin Marietta as a Software Librarian. In retirement she and Bob kept very busy traveling to much of the globe, as well as staying an active and involved parent and grandparent. Gloria attended many, many of her grandchildren's baseball, softball and soccer games as well as gymnastics, wrestling and swimming meets. Although not generally a sports fan, she was a super fan of her children and grandchildren.

Gloria is survived by her husband Bob, children Lynn Ann Johnson (Jeff), Donna Ward, Rob Ward (Carmen), Wendi Ward, and David Ward (Debra), 14 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and her sister Caroll Raskin (Bruce).

Services will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, at 10 am on Monday, December 13. Memorial gifts may be made to Salesian Missions: Salesian Missions - International Relief for Children.

The family of Gloria Irene (Galasso) Ward invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute Wall created in her memory.
