Obituary

Flahive, Gloria Suzanne 90, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2015 to join her beloved spouse Maj. (Ret.) John D. Flahive, Sr. Born in Waterbury, CT, she was the daughter of Gustav and Dina Radke. She was blessed with a loving family and will be greatly missed by all. Gloria is survived by her four children, John D. Flahive, Jr. (Maryann) of St. Petersburg, FL, Kathleen M. Flahive (Julie) of Baltimore, MD, Gloria A. Brown (Robert) of Southington, CT, Suzanne J. Dinnella of Hebron, CT.
Gloria was a strong, determined Army wife for 20 years. She established stability for her children as the family made numerous moves within the United States as well as overseas in France and Germany. Following Johns retirement in 1965, the family returned to Waterbury, CT until moving to Florida in 1978. Also left to cherish her memory are her nine grandchildren: Tracy, Ali, John, Jessica, Michael, Nicolina, Blakey, Allison and Alicia as well as her delightful great-grandchildren Logan, Tyler, Maggie, Cole, Sophia, Gracie, John, Alyssa, Alex, Paxton, Harper and Rylee. She is also survived by two Godchildren Jody Mauger and Diane Antos as well as many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was a wonderful cook. A family gathering was never complete without Gloria and her potato salad and coleslaw. Known as Gigi to her great-grandchildren, she delighted them with her delicious cookies and cakes. Gloria was happiest spending time with her family. Always fun loving, Gloria never said no to visits to Busch Gardens or Disney World with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to Biloxi, Las Vegas, and Mohegan Sun in CT. She was a true BINGO professional. Gloria was a dedicated Rays fan, especially devoted to Evan Longorio. Gloria and john volunteered at St. Petersburg General Hospital for over 20 years putting smiles on the faces of people coming into the hospital.
A memorial service for Gloria will be held at a later date in CT. The family is most thankful for the care given to Gloria by the nurses at Northside Hospital and the staff at Suncoast Hospice. A special thank you to Sister Dolores of Bon Secours Place for her loving support of Gloria and her family. Donations in the memory of Gloria may be made to Suncoast Hospice.
