Gloria Linda Cardenas, age 80, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2025, in St.
Petersburg, Florida, surrounded by her beloved children. Born on April 28, 1945, in Lima, Peru.
Gloria moved to Florida in 1980, where she embraced a new life in a new country along with her
children and mother. What she was most proud of was her family. She was kind, generous, and
loved being a mother and grandmother.
She worked very hard and had many challenges. She attended college and was very proud of
being independent and owning her own house. She enjoyed baking, especially making cakes.
She was deeply religious and was part of a rosary group at a local Catholic church. Her humor
was rich with life experience and wit, cleverly laced with irony and wisdom, humor that can
disarm with the sweetest smile and deliver truth with a twinkle in her beautiful eyes.
Gloria is survived by her loving daughter, Sandra Sharby and her husband John; her son,
Jonathan Guevara; her cherished grandson, John S. Sharby and his fiancé Victoria Ohlsson;
her granddaughter Jessica Sharby; and her great grandson Victor. She also leaves behind her
siblings, Amanda Gangl and Grace Guerrero. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents,
Fernando and Victoria (Bustamante) Cardenas, and her brothers, Fernando Cardenas and
Cesar ' Tito' Cardenas. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at DeGusipe Funeral
Home, located at 3530 49th St N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710. Light refreshments will be served
during the Visitation. The funeral Mass is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, at 10:00 AM at Holy
Cross Catholic Church, 7851 54th Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33709. Gloria will be laid to rest
immediately after Mass at Royal Palm South Cemetery, 101 55th St South, St. Petersburg, FL
33707. Family and friends are welcome to share a meal after, location to be determined.
