Glenda Garrett Morgan, 75, of Altamonte Springs, Florida died peacefully on September 27, 2016 in her home. Glenda, "Mimi" to loved ones, was born on October 8, 1940 in Mineral Wells, Texas, the daughter of the late Sam and Byrdie Garrett.
After attending Texas Tech University, she met the love of her life, Paul W. Morgan and they married on September 26, 1966. The newly married couple raised two sons in various parts of the country, including Washington, California, New York, and Georgia, before settling down in Central Florida. Paul and Glenda were able to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary the day before she was called to Heaven.
In addition to being an athlete in marathons, golf, and bowling, Glenda was an avid sports enthusiast- knowing every detail from college and professional football to racecar drivers and golf. She was a member of Maitland Presbyterian Church in Maitland, FL since 1971 and belonged to a small group of seven devoted friends, the "Sept-Angels", who supported her through her long and arduous battle with cancer. She was a Stephen Minister.
Glenda is also survived by her son Sam; daughter-n-law Mary Beth; granddaughter Brianna of Orlando, FL; son Brett and daughter-n-law Tracey of Asheville, NC; sister Sue Stanford; brother Sam Garrett; nephews Cade Patterson and Spencer Garrett; nieces Sonya Stanford Crow and De Stanford Joachim; grandnieces Suzanne and Sarah Crow, and Posey Patterson, all of Texas. Glenda was preceded in death by her twin sister, Linda "Doll" Patterson of Texas.
Memorial services will be held on October 8, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Maitland Presbyterian Church 341 N. Orlando Ave. Maitland, FL 32751 with a reception immediately following in the church Fellowship Hall.
