Gladys Torres Fernandez was born in Havana, Cuba on August 7, 1938 and passed away unexpectedly on September 30, 2021 in Sanford, Florida.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, and dancing. After immigrating to the United States, she became a licensed beautician and owned her own beauty salon. Once in Tampa she worked at Tropical Garment Manufacturing and retired from the Hillsborough County School System after many years of service in various roles.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Nilo Miguel Fernandez of Sanford, brother Ramon Torres and his wife Mirta of New Jersey, son Nelson Fernandez, daughter-in-law Laura, and daughter Enid Fernandez of Tampa; grandchildren Carlos, Marissa, Alejandro, Michael, Sergio, Angelina, David, and Nicholas; great-grandchildren Izaac, James, Evelyn, Malia, and Alayah; beloved granddaughters-in-law Marisa and Jennifer, cousins, nieces, nephews, and host of other dearly loved friends.
