Obituary

Giuseppe Ferrari - Pino as he was known to all of his family and friends - husband of Phyllis (Luisi) Ferrari, father of Dr. Francesco Ferrari and Michael Ferrari, left this world at the age of 76 on July 31, 2022 in Winter Park, Florida. Pino was born on November 10, 1945 in Milan, Italy to Attilio Ferrari and Maria (Cassinotti) Ferrari. He earned his degree in Production and Electrical Engineering from ISTIM in Milan, Italy in 1967 and went on to work in information technology at IBM for 40 years. While working for IBM on assignment in Boca Raton, Florida, Pino met and fell in love with Phyllis. On January 31, 1981 they were married in Milan, Italy, and the couple remained married for 41 years.

Pino was a true student of the world, curious about absolutely everything. His collection of books alone would come to be a kind of monument to this fact. A veritable "early adopter", he loved technology, and seeing early on that computers were going to be everything, he decided to dedicate his career to them. While at IBM, Pino became the worldwide program manager for Linux software sales.

Pino was passionate about travel and loved to explore, especially the unconventional. Both professionally and for pleasure, he traveled the globe. During his lifetime he set foot on six continents and toured countless cities, capitals, and historic sites. Pino loved nature, wildlife, and visiting national parks. While on his first visit to the United States in 1971, Pino became enamored with the American West, which had always been a boyhood curiosity for him in Italy, and remained a true love throughout his life. In 1995, Pino was proud to become a naturalized United States citizen while retaining his Italian citizenship. Extremely talented and creative with composition and design, Pino loved photography. He photographed his many travels and life with his family, bequeathing them a genuine treasure trove of memories in the form of records and documents.

A meticulous planner, Pino was considerate and thoughtful in all of his endeavors. He was the consummate problem-solver. He was at once a showman, a ham, a natural public speaker (fluent in three languages, two of which he taught himself *after* the age of 20), a teacher, and comfortable engaging perfect strangers. Pino loved life and laughed at life's ever-present absurdities, ironies, and contradictions. He loved learning, loved his Italian heritage and culture, as well as his chosen/adopted American home. Above all, he loved Phyllis, his sons, and his family and friends.

Pino passed away due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. There is no doubt that he was robbed of the final years of his life. Even still, Pino more than made up for them in the years he lived prior to the onset of the most advanced stages of his illness. His life was productive, creative, rich and full, and surrounded by love. His family held a private gathering of his loved ones to celebrate his enormous life on Saturday August 6th, 2022.
