Gilbert Henry Roof Jr., fondly known as Gil to many of his friends, age 88, of Windermere, Florida (formerly Inverness, Florida) passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020. Gil was born on July 4, 1932 in Chester, South Carolina and made Inverness his home in 1974. Gil worked most of his life in retail management for JM Fields, TG&Y, and Walmart. Gil also served in the Air Force for 4 years prior to working in retail management.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sadako Roof. He is survived by his loyal daughter, Debra Negrete, and her caring husband, Rodney Negrete, and his dear grandchildren Kennan and Kennedy Negrete who all loved him so deeply.
Gil will be remembered for his strength and resilience and his sense of humor. He loved telling silly jokes and making others laugh. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and family. He took great pleasure in fishing and watching sports.
A private celebration of life will be held for Gil with his immediate family members. He will truly be missed.
