June 15, 1923-August 4, 2022
Gerard Peter (Max) Maxfield died on August 4, 2022 at age 99. Originally from
Leominster, MA, he joined the Navy and was deployed to Perth, Western
Australia where he met and married his sweetheart of almost 75 years, Julie Iris
Rodoreda. He left with the Navy and she took the "bridal train" across Australia
then sailed to America where they were reunited.
For the duration of their marriage, the couple was deeply involved in their church
and in volunteer work, and they supported numerous charities.
Max built homes with Habitat for Humanity and worked with the church to serve
meals to the homeless. Up until the last months of his life, he helped with Meals
on Wheels and with Hello Luv, packing and delivering gift bags for homeless
veterans. He enjoyed a Guinness beer with his buddies, liked reminiscing about
his childhood and his time in the military, and loved a good laugh.
He leaves behind 7 children, 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 1 brother, 4
sisters, and numerous good friends.
A Celebration of Life, for both Max and Julie, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October
20, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Church in Winter Park, FL.
The family of Max invites you to leave a message of condolence on the Tribute
Wall created in his memory.
