Geraldine "Jere" Ledet was first a loving mom with deep religious faith. She was always thoughtful of others and sensitive to people's needs and had a big heart.
She approached her life as a strong, competitive, and tough woman who was funny, smart, and beautiful both inside and out. Jere was born in Long Island on April 5, 1939. She moved to Miami with her family when she was 10 years old. She was one of 5 children of Louise and Anthony Mirkovich.
All through high school and beyond Jere was an exceptional swimmer. In high school she was a division junior Olympics champion. She graduated high from Miami Jackson High School in 1957. After high school, she became part of an international synchronized swimming organization. She performed all over North and South America. In the early 70s, she discovered her passion for golf. Within three years, she became a club champion in North Carolina. After moving to Ft Myers and continuing to play golf, she began working at a Pro Golf Shop. She became the manager and was instrumental in turning around a poorly performing company into a successful business. Jere also sold print and radio advertising. Later, she became a licensed realtor in Fort Myers and was number one in sales her very first year. She retired in 1990 to Boca Raton near her family. In 2002, Jere moved to Heathrow to be near her daughter, sister, and best friend. Here Jere enjoyed socializing with friends shopping and golfing with the girls. But most of all she enjoyed being a part of her grandsons' lives. She watched the football games and bragged about them all the time. She loved them very much. In 2012, her granddaughter, Micah was born. Micah was the apple of her eye. She spent countless days visiting Micah and Michael in Shreveport, enjoying every precious second with them.
Jere went home to be with Jesus on February 11, 2020. I'm sure all of us will remember her for her passion for life, generosity, kindness, sense of humor and quick wit. Jere could light up a room like no one else!
Jere is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Tim Tiralosi, her son Michael Ledet, her sister and brother-in Law Toni and John Igler, her brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Marianne Mirkovich, her sister Lorraine Voelker, her nieces Dawn Igler, Cristina Wagner, and Jennifer Mirkovich, her nephew Dan Mirkovich, her grandsons Blake Tiralosi, Alexander Tiralosi, Cody Tiralosi and granddaughter Micah Ledet.
Jere was predeceased by parents Louise and Anthony Mirkovich, her sister and brother-in-law Arlene and Earnie Jebb, her niece Terry Lynn Thomas and her nephew Bob Thomas.
Thank you to Maddie, Sharmila, and Dr. Mary, from Vitas, for taking such good care of my mom. Maddie and Sharmila were truly angels!
