It's been 54 years since Jerry Serio lost his dad back in 1966. Their joyous reunion is now complete. Gerald Sebastian Serio completed his earthly journey and God- given assignment just before lunchtime on Thanksgiving Day. He took his seat at our Heavenly Father's banquet table with our Lord Jesus and all other eternal family members and friends. All who knew Jerry will affirm that this is just like him to not be late for a Thanksgiving Feast. In fact, he was right on Vince Lombardi time, 15 minutes before the start! Jerry's well-fought 10 year cancer battle provided him with many years of family memory-making with his 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. After losing the love of his life and wife after 60 years of marriage in February, he spent the last 9 months in true accounting fashion taking care of all needed family business.

Jerry was born in Milwaukee, WI where he graduated from Pius High and Marquette University with an Accounting Degree. To live in Milwaukee during the Fabulous 50's were surely "Happy Days." Aaaaay! Watching submarine races down at the lake front of Lake Michigan with his soon-to-be bride were among his fondest Milwaukee memories. In 1966, the young Serio Family was transferred to Orlando, FL with United Parcel Service where Jerry opened the first UPS office in the Sunshine State of Florida. Jerry left UPS in the early 70's when he started his own Serio & Associates Tax and Accounting business which is still practicing today in Longwood.

Jerry loved and lived for the camaraderie of coaching sports for all of his children. He coached Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, and Girls Club Softball, winning league championships almost every year in every league. He had a passion for bowling and spent 25 years in couples and men's leagues at Colonial Lanes. Jerry spent 30 years as a Pine Hills Rotarian with perfect attendance and was also active with Welcome Wagon and bridge clubs. Without question, his favorite club membership was with his fellow Italian Business owners called ProBus. Once a month, the Italian brothers gather to mangia, drink wine, smoke cigars and share stories of growing up in Italian families. Jerry served as club President, and was the club Treasurer for over 20 years.

Sue and Jerry raised their family in Pine Hills until 1985 when they built their dream home in Longwood, where they became faithful attendees of Annunciation Catholic Church. Their home was the perfect and preferred family party spot for every Thanksgiving and Christmas gathering, without exception, for all 60 years of their life together. Years of enjoying Old-Fashioneds (the Serio Family and Wisconsin State cocktail) around the family bar provided many fun and cherished memories that will live on and be followed for generations. Jerry was a selfless family man…husband, father and friend. He could always be counted on and was our Family Rock for sound advice, unconditional support, and love.

Jerry was the son of Mary and Carl Serio, and father of children Tom (wife Beth), Tim (wife Maribel), Tammy (husband Steve) and Tiffany (husband Scott); with grandchildren Kristin (husband Paul), Michael, Matthew (wife Jordan), Daniel, Rachel (husband John-Paul), Walter, Sophia, Blake and Madeline; and great grandchildren Brayden, Adley and Caysen. He was also big brother to his sister Judy, niece Kris (husband Greg, daughter Sonora) and nephew Bill (wife Beth). Our hearts selfishly miss our Dad; but our souls rejoice for his eternal reward from a life faithfully lived and is now fully alive with Jesus.

Celebration of Life Services will commence on January 4th at 11am to 1pm, at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland. Graveside Service shortly after at 2pm, Queen of Angels Catholic Cemetery in Winter Park.
