Gerald Raymond Pickles, affectionately known as PopPop, peacefully departed to be with his Lord on April 23, 2024, in Orlando, Florida, at the age of 91.
Gerald was born on February 20, 1933, in Derby, Connecticut, to Clarence H. Pickles and Virginia Sienna. After serving honorably in the army, he settled in New Jersey and dedicated years of service to General Motors until his retirement in 1988. Following retirement, Gerald and his beloved wife, MaryAnn, whom he cherished for 52 years, continued to lead active lives. Unable to stay retired and loving to spend time with one another, they embarked on a new journey, managing hardware stores together. They also found joy in saving sea turtle nests and exploring new places through their travels until MaryAnn's passing in 2010.
Gerald's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his devoted son, Roger Pickles, and his wife, Rebecca, along with their three children, Bridget, Bernadette, and Jacob Pickles. He is also survived by his cherished daughter, Deborah Notelle, grandson Jonathan Notelle, and Jonathan's wife, Taya, as well as his three great- grandchildren, Evelyn, Annette, and Madeline.
Throughout his life, Gerald exemplified dedication, love, and integrity. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to the Wounded Warrior Project (
