In Loving Memory of Jeff

George Jeffrey “Jeff” Woolfenden was born on February 21, 1963, in Fairfax, Virginia, and passed away on August 31, 2026, in Orlando, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nell Grey Powell and Kenneth Donald Woolfenden, and his brother, David Woolfenden.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Dorie Johnson; his two sons, Jeffrey Bowman Woolfenden and Donald Jeffrey Woolfenden; and his granddaughter, Amber Woolfenden. He is also survived by his sisters, Theresa Wildman and Constance Walker; his brother, Rick Bookout; close extended family; and numerous friends who shared his life and will greatly miss him.

Jeff was a man who was hard to forget. He lived life in his own way, with determination, strong opinions, a quick wit, and usually a story that somehow got better every time he told it.

He loved being outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, and riding motorcycles, but he was happiest spending time with his family and his dogs. Some of his best moments were the simple ones: relaxing at home, watching videos on his computer, or cooking for the people he loved.

Jeff spent 15 years as an FWC-licensed nuisance alligator trapper—a profession that suited his outdoorsman spirit, strong work ethic, and resolve in challenging situations. Beyond his work, there always seemed to be a side project or new venture on the horizon. If you needed something done, there was a good chance he either knew how to do it, had the tools to do it, or knew someone who could. His network of connections seemed endless.

But perhaps the best way to know Jeff was through the people he loved.

He wasn't always the type to sit down and say exactly how he felt. His love was shown in what he did—showing up when you needed him, fixing what was broken, making the right phone call, or giving advice, sometimes whether you wanted it or not. His kindness showed in the things he did for others. He could fuss at you and tell you exactly what he thought, but if you were one of his people, he stood by you. That was Jeff.

There will be stories about him for years to come: hunting and fishing trips, boats and motorcycles, alligators and unexpected adventures. Stories about things he did, things he built, and probably a few that begin with, “Well, Jeff had this idea…” Those stories are part of his legacy.

Jeff was never meant to be ordinary, and he certainly wasn't. He was independent, capable, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved. He leaves behind family and friends who loved him, and memories that will keep him close. His life was full of adventures, hard work, laughter, and people who mattered to him. The days ahead will be different without him. He will be missed more than words can say.

And knowing Jeff, he'd probably tell us we're making too big a fuss about it.

A gathering to honor and celebrate Jeff’s life will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at DeGusipe Funeral Home & Crematory, 1400 Matthew Paris Blvd., Ocoee, Florida. A public viewing will take place from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM.
