GEORGE THURSTON TWADELL (1937-2022) AGE 85

George T. Twadell of Philmont, N.Y., passed away at home on Nov. 5, 2022. He was born in Hudson, N.Y. to the late George Cruden Twaddle and Anne (McGuire) Twaddle. His father was an electrician and his mother was Treasurer of Columbia County, N.Y.

He grew up in a little village of Philmont, N.Y. As a boy growing up, he enjoyed playing first base in baseball. He drew a lot of attention. He also attended Ockawamick High School and graduated in 1955.
He went on to attend State University of New York, at New Pulz, N.Y. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, in 1959. He then attended the University of Bridgeport, Ct. , graduate school, working on his Master's degree.

On June 1, 1960, George enlisted in the USMCR, and was assigned to active duty at Parris Island, SC, and Camp LeJune, N.C. He received his Honorable discharge as a Corporal on Jan. 23, 1966.
On, Oct. 28, 1963, he took the oath of office for the FBI, and became a special agent. Following an intensive training at Quantico, Va. and Washington D.C.. he held assignments in Savannah, Ga., Myrtle Beach, S.C., Birmingham, Al., Huntsville, Al., New York City, N.Y., Kingston, N.Y., Poughkeepsie, N.Y., and Orlando, Fl. After 26 years of service, he retired his last assignment in Orlando, Fl. His career awarded him with numerous letters of commendations and monetary awards.
George was a member of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI. He was also proud to keep his firearm skills up to date.

Upon retirement in 1978 from the FBI, George was employed by Wachovia Bank. He was the Regional Manager and Fraud Investigator of Wachovia Bank, where he served 26 years.
George is survived by his wife, Gail Twadell, his two sons, Daniel Twadell and Gregg Twadell (Susan), Step-Son Charles Angove IV (Melissa), his two Grandson's, Ethan and William Twadell, and two Step-Grandson's, Cameron and Wesley Angove, his beloved sister Carol(Twaddle) Ostrander, and many niece and nephews and great niece and nephews, and cousins.
George will be greatly missed by his two King Charles Cavaliers, Reagan and Ginger.
