George Lintner (Toni) Stimmel, III passed away peacefully in his home on December 31, 2020. Toni was born October 12, 1934 in Los Angeles, California.
He is the son of George L. Stimmel II and Dorothy Hayes Stimmel. He is survived by his wife Beatrice C. Stimmel of 64 years, son Mark P. Stimmel, son Eugene R. Stimmel, daughter in law Patricia McGann Stimmel, daughter Laura Stimmel Taylor, grandchildren Kaitlin Bolender (Clay), Jennifer Taylor, Megan Stimmel, Sean Stimmel, and many loving family members and devoted friends.
Toni was a State Champion Boxer in high school and is a graduate of St. Stanislaus School in Bay St. Louis, MS. After high school, Toni enlisted in the Unites States Army, serving during the Korean War. After discharge from the Army, Toni earned a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from MIT in 1960. After graduation Toni and Bea moved to Orlando where Toni began his career as an Electrical Engineer at the Martin Company, now Lockheed Martin. A brilliant engineer, Toni's career spanned 32 years and he was a major contributor in the design and development of the Pershing II Missile, the Lunar Rover for NASA during the Apollo program, and the LANTIRN Navigation and Targeting System. In 1992, Toni retired from Lockheed Martin as a Senior Member, Technical Staff earning dozens of commendations and awards for his dedicated service and unparalleled problem-solving ability. He was recognized as a corporate expert in vector mechanics, optimal filters, and numerical methods.
Toni spent his retirement enjoying his many hobbies including home improvement and woodwork. He also had a passion for Catholic education and was an active supporter of St. Stanislaus, St. Andrew, and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Schools.
