Peacefully passed away on Saturday morning March 29th in St. Petersburg, Florida at the age of 96.

Born in Aliquippa Pennsylvania to John G. and Alice T. Povelitis, George grew up with his older sister Isabel and older brother John. He attended Hopewell High School and enjoyed playing football and playing the piano at the rallies. He was employed by J&L (Jones and Laughlin) Steel of Aliquippa where he worked as a foreman in the tin mill. He and his wife Phyllis (deceased 2005) found their place in the sun when they retired to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1982. They were active members of the St. Petersburg Elks Lodge #1224 where they made many longtime friends. He will always be remembered for his love of music and his amazing singing voice. He also enjoyed playing the piano and accordion.
