George I. Harrison
In loving memory of George I Harrison, 84, of Belle Isle FL, whom passed away Monday, April 2,2018.
Born November 1933 in Englewood, NJ, he was the son of Susan J. Harrison and John H. Harrison. George grew up in Tivoli, NY until he left to serve in the Navy from September 2nd, 1952 until August 31, 1956. He then attended his beloved University of Florida, where he graduated in 1961. George then began his career at Martin Marietta in 1961 and finally, retiring in 1994. During retirement, George served his community as City Council Commissioner of Belle Isle from April 20, 1999 thru April 4, 2005.
George was a loving husband, adored father and beloved grandfather. He was a die-hard Gator fan and spent his retirement taking his grandchildren to Gator football games, ensuring his love of the school and sport continued on to his grandchildren. He was also an avid golfer and continued to polish his game twice a week for the majority of his retirement with his close friends from Martin Marietta. George's love of golf carried him to his parent's home country of Ireland as well as, Scotland numerous times with his friends for a number of years where he was fully immersed in his favorite pastime. Our father will be missed dearly and remembered with peace, joy and eternal love.
Mr. Harrison was predeceased by his parents, Susan and John Harrison.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Harrison. His 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Gregg Friedman of Delray Beach FL, Kelly and Allen Crowder of Orlando FL and Sarah and Patrick Molter of Knoxville TN. George also leaves behind 6 grandchildren: Emma, Jac, Kira, Stevie, Jacob and Aiden.
