Obituary

George Jamil Boghos, lovingly known as "Bogie," passed away peacefully on April 11, 2026, at his home in Lake Mary, Florida. He was 84 years old.

George was born on April 20, 1941, in Beirut, Lebanon, to Jamil Boghos and Georgette Bafitos Boghos. He was raised in Beirut and attended Ashrafieh Public School. In his early years, George had a natural gift for language and connection, teaching English to fellow Lebanese students at Dar Al Ouloom, a center of education in Beirut. It was during this time that his friendship with Tony Salameh led to a lifelong family connection, as Tony later married George's sister, Elly.

In May 1965, George moved to Wakefield, Massachusetts, to work with his Uncle Joe, where he began a successful sales career with Geigy, selling Swiss pharmaceuticals. Known for his strong work ethic and natural ability to connect with people, he consistently excelled and was recognized multiple times as a top-performing salesperson.

Later in 1965, George married Sameera, whom he met through a family connection between Sameera's father, Ghali Elfar, and George's uncle, Joseph Boghos, who was his father's brother.

During the 1970s, George became a well-known Middle Eastern entertainer throughout New England, performing with his band, George Boghos and the Knights of Lebanon. He built a devoted following as he toured the region, with his music featured on numerous AM radio stations, bringing the sounds of his heritage to audiences far and wide.

Above all, George was a family man. He is survived by his two sons, Jameel and John, and his daughter, Jacqueline; his six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; as well as his two sisters, Elly and Marlene, and three brothers, Samir, Emile, and Camille. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jamil and Georgette; his sister, Jacqueline; and his former spouse, Sameera, with whom he found peace and reconciliation.
