Obituary

Gary Thompson, born on February 6,1958, in Portland, Maine, passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 67 at Orlando Health Hospital, Lake Mary. He was the beloved son of Gloria Edna (Skillings) Thompson and Robert Melvin Thompson. Gary attended schools in South Portland and Scarborough, eventually graduating from Cape Elizabeth High School in 1976, where he discovered his exceptional talent for woodworking.

After high school, Gary joined the U.S. Navy but was released early to care for his ailing mother. He spent time traveling the country, picking up various jobs, before eventually settling in Central Florida. In Florida, Gary began his career in painting and remodeling, eventually founding Thompson's Quality Renovation a successful business that took him across Florida and other states. His dedication and hard work built not only a thriving company but also a reputation for quality craftsmanship and integrity.

Gary's life was filled with love and devotion to his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Jenelyn Thompson, and his three children: Gabrielle Weir, Stone Thompson, and Gunner Thompson; and his grandchildren, Jackson Crooks, Anika, Ina, and Ajita Weir. He also leaves behind his sister Cher Thompson of Orange City, niece Angela Cassidy of Boston, and nephew Jesse Allen of Keene, New Hampshire.

Gary was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His first marriage to Angela blessed him with his eldest child, Gabrielle. He later married Kathy Jo, welcoming his son, Stone. But that chapter didn't close there. Gary's journey of love led him to meet his wife Jenny during a trip to the Philippines, where they married after a whirlwind three- week courtship. Their bond was one of unwavering support and partnership, building a life together for 20 years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, cherishing every moment with his children and grandchildren.

A lifelong motorcycle enthusiast, particularly fond of Harley-Davidsons, Gary was also known as "The Corvette Guy" among his friends. His passion for storytelling could keep anyone captivated for hours, as he shared stories of his life and accomplishments. He took immense pride in his work, yet remained humble, kind, and generous-always thinking of others before himself.

Gary was an avid sports fan, often heard cheering, "Go Gators!" He was also a boxing fanatic, gathering friends to watch fights, especially those of Manny Pacquiao. His love and respect for Filipino culture and his wife's family were a testament to his big heart and open mind.

Gary's legacy will live on through the lives he touched his unwavering devotion to his family, his dedication to his craft, and his kindness toward everyone he met. His memory will forever be cherished by those who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
