Gary Burkey, 66, of Maitland, Florida, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. Gary was born on July 12, 1951 in Cumberland, Maryland. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rosemary Burkey, of Cumberland, MD.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Julie M Burkey; his children Brandon Burkey and wife Christine, Maitland FL; Stefan Burkey and wife Lisa, Winter Park, FL; Marisa Haney and husband Timothy, Lakeland, FL; 11 awesome grandchildren who were the "light" of Gary's life - Blake Burkey, Jordan Burkey, Kate Burkey, Lucas Burkey, Juliet Burkey, Emma Haney, Taylor Haney, Madelyn Burkey, Mackenzie Haney, Christian Burkey, and Mason Haney.

His mother-in-law and father-in-law Maria and Claudio Gargiulo, Casselberry, FL; his brother Philip Burkey and wife Kitty, Mt Airy, MD; his sister Rita Bradburn and husband Isaac, Green Spring, WV; his brother Michael Burkey and wife Doris, Berkeley Springs, WV; sister-in-law Diana McCreight, Apopka, FL; sister-in-law Gloria Klein and husband Daniel, Altamonte Springs, FL; sister-in-law Linda Indolfi, Altamonte Springs, FL; and Florida nephews Cameron and Zackary McCreight, Apopka, FL; Garett and Cole Klein, Altamonte Springs, FL; Maryland nephews Ryan and Amy Burkey, Mt Airy, MD; Kevin and Alissa Burkey, Hagerstown, MD; WV nieces and nephews - Christie and Robert Friend, Ridgeley, WV; Josh Bradburn and Melissa Nolan, Cumberland, MD; Elissa Foley, Green Spring, WV; Joseph Burkey, Cumberland, MD; Cameron and Amber Burkey, Cumberland, MD; Gerald Perry and Amy Stuhl, Berkeley Springs, WV; Jessica and William Lindsay, Berkeley Springs, WV; Ashley and Steve Morris, Berkeley Springs, WV; and 32 great-nieces and nephews; and 3 great-great nephews. Gary was truly blessed with a huge loving family!

Visitations for Gary will be held Sunday, September 17, 2017 at DeGusipe Funeral Home in Maitland from the hours of 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church on Monday, September 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM. A graveside interment will follow directly after the mass at Palm Cemetery, Winter Park, Florida.
