Galdino E. Valvassori passed quietly in his sleep on February 13, 2018 climbing his mountain.

Galdino was born in Milan, Italy on July 16, 1926. He was a man like no other. His tenacity and love of life were shared with everyone he touched and he had a good run of 91 incredible years! Galdino came to the United States in 1955 with his first love Alessandrina to finish his medical board exams at Memorial Hospital (at Cornell Medical School) in New York City. They married and had 4 children, who are all alive today with families of their own. Galdino had an amazing career as a pioneer in the field of the otolaryngology (radiology of the head and neck). He read cases, traveled the world sharing his knowledge with professionals in the field and teaching young up and coming radiologists at the University of Illinois everything he knew. He was a man who knew how to have fun! He loved to walk, ski (he downhill skied into his 80's), hike the mountains and play with his grandchildren who were the love of his life. He honored everyone he met regardless of their race, age, disabilities and intelligence level. He was curious about everyone he met and everything out there in the world as we know it. Galdino will live on in all who were blessed to meet him. We love you Dad and know you will be with us forever! Happy Valentines Day Dad!

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his four children: Danielle, Alex, (Maureen), Laura, and Pia (Sean) and his 8 grandchildren: Alex, Carly, Tony, Chris, Danielle, Colin, Marco and Sandrina.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church (526 N Park Ave, Winter Park) at 11 am on Monday February 19, 2018.

A Memorial Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Winnetka, Illinois, where he was a member for 47 years, on Saturday April 14, at 11 am.
