Frederick A. Koehler, 88, of Orlando, FL passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017. He was born on August 24, 1928 in Baker, Montana to Frederick W. and Mabel C. (McCumber) Koehler. He is survived by his wife Madeline, his daughter Pati, and his brother John of Surprise, AZ. Fred enlisted in the U.S. Army at the age of 18 in 1945. While in the Army he was stationed in Korea, Germany, and USA. While stationed in Chicago he met Madeline who would become his wife in 1955. He served as a member of the Military Police & Transportation Department. Madeline joined him in Germany and they got to see the world. After returning stateside their daughter Pati was born. He completed a full 20 year career in the Army. After retiring from the Army he continued to work for the Department of Defense in the Motor Pool at The Pentagon in Arlington, VA, then Cameron Station in Alexandria, VA. After his second retirement, he took up residence at their home in Ophelia, VA. He spent his time volunteering with the Smith Point Sea Rescue Team where they assisted in the rescue & recovery of many people and watercraft on the Chesapeake Bay. He loved all the friends and neighbors that spent time in Ophelia, VA, fishing and crabbing. In 2003 Fred & Madeline moved to Orlando to be closer to their daughter and to enjoy a better climate. He became an active member of the Goldenrod Civic Club and enjoyed playing cards with friends three days a week. He enjoyed playing games on his computer. Solitaire was his first choice. His sense of humor and helpful nature will be missed by family and friends alike. Madeline and Pati want to thank all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and loving support.
