Obituary

Fred Lewis Pitzer, 71, of Longwood, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at his home.

He was born on March 8, 1951, in Hinton, West Virginia, son to the late Joseph Pitzer and Naomi Florence Sears. He was a lot of things to a lot of people, but to all who knew him he was an easy-going and kind guy. Freddy was easy to talk to and made you feel welcome to sit down beside him, drink a beer, and shoot the breeze about anything or everything, including the newest tidbit he learned from watching documentaries on TV. Freddy left school at a young age, only finishing the eighth grade; yet he was always interested in learning. As an adult he had an opportunity for a job, so he made up his mind, worked hard, obtained his GED, and got the job. He was a hard worker with a mechanical mind who was good with his hands, which served him well in his careers as both a truck driver and later as a mechanic. Freddy wasn't the loudest at the party, but the party will definitely not be the same without him. He will be deeply missed.

He is survived by three children, Erica (and Richard) Salmon of Sanford, FL, James "Jamie" (and Dana) Pitzer of DeBary, FL, Randal Foster of TX; ten grandchildren, Taylor (and Dusty) Myers, Tyler Cogburn, Trever Cogburn, Jessica (and Josh) Thompson, Richard Salmon, Makenzie Pitzer, Jaydon Keen, Lexie Labit, Kobe Labit, and Evan Grayson; four great-grandchildren, Trenton Myers, Tanner Myers, Teagen Myers, and Pailynn Keen; one brother, Bobby Sears; and one sister Leona (and Donnie) Cox.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Lake Golden Park for friends and family. Please come dressed as Freddy would, in your favorite and most comfortable denim.
