Obituary

Frank Dale Rohter passed away on January 15 at the age of 101. He was born in Chicago, Illinois
along with two brothers and one sister.

After serving in the US Navy in WWII, he returned to marry his love, Lorayne. They moved to California in 1957 with their two daughters where he worked at UCSB and the Santa Barbara Recreation Department. He earned his PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Southern California, then became a professor at Florida State University. In 1968, he joined the staff at FTU and became its first Athletic Director hiring the inaugural coaching staff. He remained at FTU then UCF until he retired in 2003. He earned Professor Emeritus status and was inducted into the UCF Athletic Hall of Fame. Besides these accomplishments and being acknowledged as an inspirational teacher to so many, he competed in numerous triathlons and road races including the Boston Marathon and Hawaii Ironman.

Frank is survived by his sister Rose Peason, two daughters Barbara Monte Carlo and Nancy Fontaine, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by DeGusipe Funeral Home, under the care of director Todd M. DeGusipe. The burial will be on Saturday, January 25th at 3 pm at Glen Haven Memorial Park.
