Frank Edward Fondo was born in December 1930. He was the second of five boys born to Kathryn and Dominick Fondo in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. As a child he was taught by his father to play the piano by ear, even though he never learned to read music.
His family eventually relocated to Hackensack, NJ and it was there that he met Margie Gallitano. He joined the US Navy in 1948 and served for 5 years during the Korean War. During this time he married Margie on July 8,1951. They had three sons, Frank in April of 1952, Craig in August 1955 and Gary in December 1961.
After leaving the Navy he worked in construction, as a milk man and in coffee distribution until relocating his family to sunny Orlando in 1971. He was a Day 1 Disney employee, even taking his family to the park before it opened. Finally he worked in water purification for Utilities, Inc. until he retired in 1992.
He enjoyed his retirement, cruising to the Bahamas, trips to Atlantic City, Vegas and Biloxi. He also owned a condo on the beach in Cocoa for a short time.
He was married to Margie for 55 years until she passed in 2006. He continued to enjoy family and friends, taking trips and spending time at the beach. He relocated to Port Orange where he enjoyed time with Gayl Kent.
He enjoyed spending time laughing, sharing stories and indulging in any type of coffee cake. He took careful time to follow recipes and would even write notes as he perfected them. His family will miss him dearly.
