Please pray for the repose of the soul of Father Franklin Salazar.
Father Franklin Salazar was one of nine children born and raised in Monteagudo, Bolivia in the Chuquisaca Department.
Inspired by the example of his local parish priest, he began discerning a call to priesthood. He attended seminary at St. Joseph Major Seminary and Bolivian Catholic University in Bolivia, and was ordained April 7, 1975 for the Archdiocese of Sucre in Bolivia. He was fluent in Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Father Salazar served in parishes in Sucre, Bolivia and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil before arriving in the United States in 1992 to serve first in the Archdiocese of New York followed by the Diocese of Rockville Centre, NY. He arrived in the Diocese of Orlando in 2003 to serve at Holy Redeemer in Kissimmee. He subsequently served at Resurrection in Lakeland, St. Joseph in Lakeland, Blessed Trinity in Ocala, St. Francis of Assisi in Apopka, and St. Isaac Jogues in Orlando. He also assisted in farmworker outreach ministry at the Madonia Senior Community Center in Mulberry. He was incardinated into the Diocese of Orlando in 2010. Father Salazar retired in 2018 and relocated to New York.
Father Salazar is the beloved brother of Ivar Eliodoro Salazar Pacheco and Nestor Salazar Pacheco. He is also survived by his family in Brazil, Franklin Telmo Salazar Arce, Lucia Asumpcion Salazar Arce and their families and his loving family and caretakers, Andrea and Victoria Lacerda.
Funeral Arrangements:
Viewing: Friday, June 18, 1:00 – 2:45 p.m.
Funeral Mass: Friday, June 18, 3:00 p.m.
Viewing and Funeral Mass will be held in the Mary, Mother of God Chapel at San Pedro Spiritual Development Center, 2400 Dike Road, Winter Park. Interment in the Priests of the Lord Cemetery will immediately follow the Funeral Mass.
Priests attending are asked to bring their alb and white stole.
