Evelyn S. Roberts
Evelyn Salter Roberts, 88, of Longwood and Lake Mary, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014. Mrs. Roberts was born in Newark, NJ, on May 30, 1926, to William and Laura Chambers Salter. She attended the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art and began her career working in the art department of the Prudential Insurance Company in NJ.
In 1947, Evelyn married Clifford B. Roberts, a WWII Navy veteran. Throughout her life, Evelyn shared her talent with others and received numerous awards for her watercolor paintings and mixed media art. Cliff and Evelyn moved to Port Orange in 1988. Evelyn remained active during her retirement, devoting much of her time to the Ponce Inlet Art Guild, the Palmetto Club, VSA Arts of Florida-Volusia County, the Special Olympics, and as a docent at the Museum of Arts and Sciences in Daytona Beach. In 2002, the DAR recognized Evelyn for her many hours of civic volunteer service with its Community Service Award.
Evelyn Salter Roberts is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Jim Salvano, Longwood, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, Brian and Caroline Roberts, Sherrills Ford, NC, and Neil and Debbie Roberts, Hillsborough, NJ; eight grandchildren: Gina Salvano, Thomas Salvano, Bradford Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Gregory (Kimberly) Roberts, Michael Roberts, Matthew (Megan) Roberts, and Kirsten Roberts; and one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Roberts. Evelyn was preceded in death by Clifford, her husband of 59 years; and her daughter, Deborah Lynn Roberts. Private arrangements are under the careful direction of DeGusipe Funeral Home.
