Obituary

Evelyn P. Lewis passed away Saturday, December 28, 2019 on her 93rd birthday. She was born on December 28, 1926 in Birmingham, AL. Her childhood years were spent in rural "Beat 14" near Wetumpka, AL. She responded to the call of the gospel of Jesus Christ in her teen years and committed her life to His direction and keeping for the rest of her days. Her relationship with Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. When she left home, she moved to Birmingham and worked for Alabama Power Co.

She met her husband of 68 years, Charles W. Lewis, in 1947 and they were married on September 4, 1951. Charles built the home they shared in St. Petersburg for 60 years until moving to Freedom Square in Seminole, FL in February, 2018.

After her youngest child started kindergarten, she went to work at Allstate Insurance Company as a key-punch operator, where she remained until she retired in 1992.

Her interests included sewing, crocheting and all things flowers. She enhanced her love of flowers by taking classes on flower arranging at the local technical school, to be able to always have fresh flowers at home. She cheerfully accepted flowers from anyone for any occasion, or no occasion at all. She would often remark "I want to enjoy flowers now before I am gone".

She is survived by her husband, Charles, daughter Kathy Massey (husband Don), daughter Becky Hamm (husband Bill), and son Greg Lewis. She has 8 grandchildren, Heather Massey Ingram and Brent Massey; Jessica Hamm and Mathew Hamm; Adam Lewis and Kayla Lewis Albritten. She has one great-granddaughter, Cordelia Ingram.
