Ethel Helen Daurelle was born in Hazleton, PA, September 20, 1919, to Anna Mary and Vincent Joseph Dusheck. She was the ninth child of twelve. Her parents were Czechoslovakian immigrants that settled in the coal mining region of Pennsylvania. The entire family spoke Slovak as a first language and all learned English. Each worked and earned money to help support the family. Their family were members and attended St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Hazleton.

After graduating high school and finding that factory work wasn't her passion, Ethel left her small town and boarded a train for Philadelphia. She enrolled in the school of nursing at Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing. While there she met a young medical student and the love of her life, George P. Daurelle, Jr., and so began her new journey. They soon added two daughters, Irene and Patty, and searched for a medical field that could financially sustain the family. The Korean Conflict separated Ethel and George for two years and she moved back to Hazleton. Upon the duration of the war, the family was reunited and discussion began as to where they would live. Ethel determined that "if we are going to be poor, George, at least let us be warm" and they moved to Miami, Florida. The family was blessed with two more children, Paul and Greg.

In 1961, Ethel and her family moved to Winter Park, Florida. George joined the staff of Florida Sanitarium and Hospital as its first Radiologist and so began the smooth rhythm of their life in Central Florida.

Ethel lost her husband in a tragic plane crash in 1970. As her children became more independent, Ethel began her travels. She along with her best friend, Terry Foman, traveled the world together. They climbed Machu Pichu, stayed the night in an head hunter's round house in Borneo, rode elephants in Africa, climbed aboard the Orient Express, were some of the first tourists to visit China after Mao (when the people still wore the brown shirts and red scarves - Ethel, the blond and Terry, the redhead were beautifully coiffed, with makeup including bright red lipstick and always surrounded by very small Asian women wanting to see these American oddities who were handing out tubes of lipsticks that they had brought for that purpose), and at least 65 other countries.
Ethel was a life long Catholic. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, Winter Park for many years and later joined Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Winter Park. She loved her Catholic Faith and especially found strength and a deep love in the Rosary.

Ethel is survived by her children, Irene (Jim) Mandracchia, Patty (Gary) Crews, Paul (Robin) Daurelle, Greg Daurelle; grandchildren, Amanda (Sean) Tyman, Lindsey (Keefe) Hudson, Tyler Martin, Beth (Will) Wyles, Christa (Chad) Balettie, Daniel McNamara, Amy (Nigel) Stanton, Liz (Micah) Dial, David Daurelle; great grandchildren, Reilley and Zach Bray, Hannah and Ellen Balettie, Derrick Ellis, Henry, Spencer and Oliver Tyman, Gage Hudson. Through hardships turned to blessings, Ethel/Grammy gained many additional grandchildren: Karen, Belinda, Darlene, Michael, Johney, A.J., Tré and many more beloved great grand children.

She had a love of life and an uncanny ability to make people smile. Ethel once said, "I have loved my life and if I could, I would live every moment of it over again." She is loved by many and will be carried in our hearts and passed down to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and loved ones.
