With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Estrella Rivera, loving mother and grandmother, who drifted peacefully on May 5th at age 92. Estrella was known for her elegant and subtle wit, warmth, welcoming disposition and her angelic humility. She is not only the heart of our family; she was the keeper of our traditions. She made anyone who stepped through her doors feel like family. Her kitchen was a world of its own filled with the aroma of her amazing food and the sound of her humming. She taught us the value of kindness and laughter. Yes, Estrella left us with recipes, but also with values and a sense of belonging.

She was born in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico. She met her late husband Felix Rivera in Brooklyn, New York. They lived in Brooklyn, Queens, Long Island and finally here in St Petersburg, Florida. Her marriage to Felix lasted 68 years until his passing on August 8th, 2024. She was a woman with very strong Catholic religious values, following the sacraments, daily rosaries, various and numerous parish ministries. This was how she raised her family with commitment to God, the community, and the family.

She is survived by her daughters, Iris Rivera and Miriam Giotta, her beloved granddaughter, Camille Bianchini, her adored great grandchildren Monique & Marcellus Reyes and her cherished great-great grandsons Jasiah & Ryder Reyes. She was a matriarch to all of the family – taking calls from her nieces and nephews, listening, soothing them and advising them. She never forgot to give everyone a call on a Christmas or New Year's Day, sending them blessings from God. We, along with the entire Rivera family will miss her endless affection.
