A Tribute to a Life of Purpose
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Esther Gail Bamford Shott, who left us peacefully on June 3, 2025, at the age of 97. Born on August 1,1927, Esther was dearly beloved by family and friends.
Esther dedicated her life to her family, her God, and her love of teaching music to young people. Esther served as music director at several area churches including Epiphany Lutheran Church in Oviedo, First United Methodist Church of Port St. John, and Presbyterian Church of The Good Shepherd in Palm Bay. Her greatest joy came at times when she played church organ alongside her husband Rev. James R. Shott's preaching. She received several honors as an elementary school music teacher including Teacher of the Year at Palm Bay Elementary.
Esther is survived by her daughters, Kathy Hopkins, Connie Swensk, Shirley Steinke, and her sister Shirley Grove, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. She was predeceased by her loving husband Rev. James R. Shott and sisters Zula Cole, Dorothy Pledger, and Eleanor Finley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 9 at 1pm at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Oviedo Florida and on zoom. Address: 1498 Tuskawilla Rd, Oviedo, FL 32765
